Itinerary / Highlights

TRIP STOPS:-
1) Kommetjie (Cape Town)9 days
Plettenberg Bay is a small holiday town with a big personality and a popular stop for travellers on the famous Garden Route. Staying in Albergos for Backpackers, you will have the opportunity to get to know other travellers around the open braai (Barbeque South African style) lit every evening.

2) Plettenberg Bay 7 days
Plettenberg Bay is a small holiday town with a big personality and a popular stop for travellers on the famous Garden Route. Staying in Albergos for Backpackers, you will have the opportunity to get to know other travellers around the open braai (Barbeque South African style) lit every evening.

3) Jeffreys Bay 10 days
Jeffrey's Bay perfectly encapsulates all that is Ticket to Ride. With World Class surf on our doorstep and some really good community projects all a short walk away; our 2 weeks in Jeffrey's Bay are one of the many highlights of the trip.

4) Coffee Bay 7 days
As you drive north from East London the houses slowly disappear and the countryside opens up into the Transkei. This is a magical part of South Africa so often overlooked by the travelling tourists eager to press on up to Durban. Home to Nelson Mandela, the Transkei is unrecognisable to the cosmopolitan cities of Cape Town and Durban. Made up of small, traditional African settlements, rolling green hills and breathtaking empty beaches, the Transkei will take you back to the Africa of 100 years ago. This is the real Africa and those that venture in will be rewarded with memories that will last a lifetime.

5) Balitto (North Durban)
Ballito is a 45-minute drive north of Durban and is an affluent ocean side community and frequent holiday destination for Durban's rich and famous. The Secret Spot is at the heart of this community and a little piece of African Paradise. Overlooking Shaka's Rock beach and set in amongst a dense forest of local indigenous trees the hostel is the ultimate retreat and the perfect place to finish the trip.

Charity Work:-
With Ticket to Ride each Rider will have a range of different community projects made available to them - see Charity Foundation. Please bear in mind that this link is to our Volunteer Placement program in Cape Town, it gives a good idea of the sort of community work the African Road trip includes, but is different from the work that is included in the African Road trip.

Surf Tuition:-
- 35 Hrs Coaching from South Africa's most highly regarded Surf Coaches.
- Unlimited additional coaching from Ticket to Ride UK Staff - All hold BSA Qualifications.
- The provision of beginners 'soft' surf boards for surf instruction in Cape Town.
- Excellent Discount on custom board from top SA shaper, Clayton, for onward surfing development.
- The TTRide tailored coaching scheme devised to help all riders of any experience; Master the Basics through to Rapid Progression, aswell as in depth beach and ocean knowledge, see Surfing Page for more details.
