A special spot, Itacare, Brazil is hidden in a corner of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rio de Contas. For years it was kept isolated as it was very difficult to access only to be reached by 30 miles of dirty roads. In 1998 the state highway was finished and Itacare has become a refuge for nature lovers, surfers, and those in search of the true Bahia. Visitors come from all over the world to take part in all you can see and feel here because this city is full of colours, sounds, smells, flavors and textures from of variety of tribes who coin-habit this area. Nature has been generous to Itacare with a diverse group of attractions for visitors of all interests. Besides beautiful beaches with consistent breaks for all levels of surfers, there are beaches with no surf for swimmers, rivers for white water rafting, trails and waterfalls, forests for exploring, a festive nightlife and amazing sunsets. Surfers discovered this gem in the 70’s and they continue to be the most faithful tourists to the area because of the year round warm water and weather and constantly outstanding conditions to accommodate their daily surf needs with a variety of spots nearby to choose from. Combined with the unique afro-Brazilian culture and an ultra relaxed life style, Itacare is a beach bums dream! Located in Itacare, Brazil, our Surf School has developed its own teaching program with roots stemming from the official program of the Australian Surfing Association. The goal of the program is to maximize your progress in a short period of time. Based on tradition and experience, we have developed our own teaching principles. Combined with individual attention, maximum safety standards and high quality equipment you are sure to have an excepetional learning experience with us. Students are generally adults and over half are female.

Pousada Girasol - Overlooking perfect waves at Praia do Pontal and Boca da Barral and nestled within the best neighborhood in Itacare is Pousada Girassol, a small hotel just steps from the beach of Praia da Concha. Surrounded by the serenity of Pousada's beautiful garden ( where breakfast is served daily with fresh Brazilian specialties) and the ocean breeze, you'll find your stay at Pousada Girassol very calming. Each room has it's own veranda equipped with a hammock.

Other amenities include a private bath, refrigerator, and tv. The ground floor rooms have air conditioning while the upstairs rooms are provided with a fan to work in combination with the constant sea breeze. Ultra clean and roomy, each room is decorated with it's own individuality using a Brazilian flair.

If it's a beach vacation you are looking for, Pousada Girassol is the perfect escape. Located at Praia da Concha, the only beach that you can actually swim at in Itacare, the atmosphere is perfect for hanging out and taking in the sun, having a cold beer and some fresh seafood at one of the many beach huts located here. It's also only 5 minutes walk from the town center.
