North Spain is without a doubt, one of Europe's very best surf zones. From the legendary lefts of Mundaka, to the perfect curls of Somo beach, Spain offers great waves for surfers of all levels. Thanks to the mix of great food, enticing culture and year-round waves, North Spain is another ‘must visit' on any surfer's wish list.

La Hosteria, run exclusively by Errant, is located in the village of Loredo. It is perfectly located a short walk from the ocean, the bars and restaurants. Jumping on a bike and exploring this area is a must. Backed by the impressive mountain range "Pico's de Europe" the endless green fields roll down the foothills, meeting the diverse and bountiful coastline of Northern Spain.

This is truly a great surfing holiday for surfers looking at trading in the modern day life in exchange for a relaxing, invigorating and surf-filled holiday.

Itinerary / Highlights

The warm prevailing winds, consistent Atlantic swells and Bay of Biscay's enormous depth, combine to produce quality surf conditions all year and with mild winters and great summers it is an ideal surfing destination. From early summer to early autumn, it's possible to surf in just shorts in this region!

The main beach of Somo is over three miles long and can produce perfect beach break waves, which are surf able throughout all the tides and are perfect for all levels. The small island of Santa Marina lies at the eastern end of Somo; here a perfect right-hand point break peels along the island, producing some of Northern Spain's best big waves.

The surf school is conveniently run from our guesthouse and the lessons start at 10.30am and last all morning. In the afternoon, you have the option to continue surfing at your leisure. All equipment is brand new and our instructors are all highly qualified British Surfing Association surf coaches and qualified beach Lifeguards, thus ensuring that your first surfing experience is a safe and satisfying one.

Accommodation Details

La Hosteria is simply a step above the rest and you will be made to feel at home by our own live in team. All rooms are newly decorated and furnished with antique Cantabrian furniture, hand crafted many years ago. The rooms are all en-suite and have there own colour TV and iPod station, so you can bring your own music into your room.

Situated on the ground floor we have our very own private bar, surf shop and open area where guests can relax, watch a DVD, play on the Playstation, read a book from the library or simply chat to fellow guests about the days surfing.

The bar area has table football and a pool table - there is plenty to do should you have any energy left after a day in the surf!

Family Friendly
La Hosteria is the most family friendly surf lodge in the world. High chairs, cot's, car seats, a play area and a children\'s menu are just some of the little things we offer to make a big difference for your hassle free surfing holiday. We should know how to look after children as your hosts Damian, Jess, Chris and Theresa have two young children themselves.
