Longboard Coaching Weekend

One of Europe's Most Progressive Surf Schools

It may be difficult to guarantee the perfect waves every day - but the next longboard coaching weekend at our surf centre in Newquay promises the opportunity to enjoy an exhilarating break away from the stresses and strains of modern life whilst honing your skills on the water.

The Course:-

The two-day course covers surfing technique (cross stepping, nose riding, generating speed, etc), fitness in surfing, board design, IPS in surfing, surfing psychology, oceanography and more.

We suggest arriving on Friday evening, from here you will be able to chill out or have a few drinks in Newquay. The next day the course starts at 10am, depending on the surf conditions we will aim to have an initial surf session to evaluate everyone's level. From here on in, the course structure is designed to fit with the best tides, and location. We normally finish up around 4pm on Sunday allowing plenty of time for people to head off in the car, or catch the plan home

We are also very proud to announce our sponsorship with Science in Sport, the UK's top leader in sports nutrition products and lush longboard skateboards. If you fancy trying out a new style of longboard we have over a dozen different boards for you to pick and choose from. A quick trip to the workshop of Will Eastham (Surfboards UK) and a chance to see a board being made and ask as many questions about board design as you like.

Your coach, Chris Thomson, a level four BSA approved surf coach and professional longboarder will guide you through the weekend to ensure you do improve. Chris has delivered dozens of these courses, each time honing his personal advanced coaching skills. The number of people has kept small on the coaching weekend to enable Chris to really build on your surfing.

Itinerary / Highlights

Learning to surf is quite simply one of the best things you can do in life. Here at Errant we are fortunate to have some of Europe's best surf coaches at our disposal to help you through those first stages.

We also understand that people learn at different speeds and in different ways, depending on their physical and mental make-up. As a result of our many years of progressive surf coaching we have developed a range of unique techniques and a personalised style to help each and every surfer understand the waves, get to their feet and start controlling the surfboard.

Errant Surf School has a number of options to get you started and onto the right track from day one. Our half day and full day packages are ideal for people who would like to experience a taste of this exhilarating sport.

However following a taster session, many people are keen to progress as quickly as possible and our range of courses has been designed to enable you to do exactly that. We have created our weekend break and full week long surf courses, incorporating personalised coaching with insightful lectures on various key areas including wave prediction, wave selection, board design and board control.

Errant Surf School is also happy to welcome larger groups of students, stag and hen parties, friends or corporate bookings. We can tailormake each course to meet your needs and requirements. Please do ask us for a group discount as we will match any deal and ensure that your group surf lesson is everything you could want it to be.

Accommodation Details

Your accommodation while in Newquay is at our cool surf lodge a few doors down from our training centre. Friday and Saturday night are included in the price, but longer stays are easily arranged. Rooms are shared and the lodge will be booked out for just the longboard coaching weekend. Breakfast is included, and we would look to all eat out on the Saturday night in town (not included in price).

The Lodge is suitable for people traveling on their own, big groups and couples. As a typical Victorian building, all rooms are spacious, and have there own identity. The house has four rooms, two bunk rooms and two double, which can be made into twin rooms if needed. The large front room has a wide screen TV, DVD and Xbox. Plus a massive library of surf DVD's, books and games. A great spot to hang out with fellow surfers after a hard day soaking up the sun and catching some waves.

At the surf lodge you will find free WIFI access throughout the building and secure surfboard and wetsuit storage. There is also a BBQ area in the back yard just for guest's to use during the summer months. The surf lodge is only 300m from the fun waves of Towan, and ten minute walk to the famous surf break of Fistral Bay. Also within a short walk from the house is Great Western, Tolcarne, Lust Glaze and Crantock. It is also located 200m from the main high street of Newquay, which is packed full of surf shops, bars, restaurants and shops. The train station and bus station are both a very short walk away. You simply could not be anymore central.
