North Spain is, without a doubt, one of Europe's very best surf zones. From the legendary lefts of Mundaka to the perfect curls of Somo beach, Spain offers great waves for surfers of all levels. Thanks to the mix of great food, enticing culture and year-round waves, North Spain is another ‘must visit' on any surfer's wish list.

Our surfing takes place in the beautiful and uncrowded area of Cantabria. Surfers from Bilbao flock to escape the crowded and built up coastline in search of the ultimate surfing holiday.

Errant also has a vast range of accommodation to suit everyone from independent travellers to families looking for an adventure holiday in the sun! Bi-lingual surf coach and beach lifeguard, Damien, runs our guiding and teaching operation from Loredo. He has lived here for 20 years and knows every inch of the surrounding coast and waves.

The Errant surf base is on the three mile Somo beach, just across the bay from Santander. It regularly produces world-class right-handers as well as a steady flow of easy waves for beginners and intermediates. Your Errant guide/instructor will know where to find the best conditions to suit your skill level on any given day and will take you right there. With so many options close-by, you can be sure that you'll find just what you're looking for, whether that is big barrels or softer waves.

Some of the best surfers in Europe live in Somo; Pablo Solar, Michel Velasco, Pablo Gutierrez and Dani Garcia are all locals to the area and their record on the WQS is a testimony to the quality waves that are in this area.

Itinerary / Highlights

British head surf coach Damien has lived in North Spain for over twenty years. He is a highly acclaimed surfer, qualified lifeguard and surf coach so you know you are in good hands! All equipment is supplied and lessons take place in the morning, then you are more than welcome to use the surf kit in the afternoon, to go off and explore or simply relax.

Accommodation Details

Our camping option is ideal as you camp directly above the surf beach which allows instant assessment of the day's wave potential from your tent. The camp site is in a complex arrangement adjacent to the self-catering bungalows. A café / restaurant facility of a high standard is available on the camp site for breakfast, lunch and dinner at reasonable prices and as with all European camping environments the showers and toilets are of a good standard.

Accommodation under canvas is well equipped, the tents are new, clean and tidy and each accommodates up to two people comfortably. The advantage of staying in a tent is that it is a cheap option for you and they are completely erected for you to move in. Remember your sleeping bag and you will not find electric either.
