Your sitting out back waiting for the sets to roll in. It’s just you and your mates on the break – uncrowded, 3-4 foot, glassy perfection. One week ago you’d never even sat of a surf board. Now it’s so natural you wander how you did without it. There’s something brewing. Your spin your board round, lie prostrate, and start to paddle exactly as you’ve been taught. No surprise – you feel the wave take you. The back of the board lifts and the nose points down and within and without even thinking about it you jump to your feet as the board glides down the face. You nail the bottom turn as you always do, leaning into the right-hander and stroking your hand across the face of the wave as it crashes behind you. You glide along in perfect control of the board for the next 100 metres before you stop, paddle back out, and do it all again 5 minutes later.
This is you at the end of our Learn to Surf Performance Course at Surf Berbere.
At Surf Berbere we are working with the local Berbere people to bring you an unforgettable Moroccan Surfing Experience. Our surf camp is located in the sleepy fishing village of Taghazout, overlooking Hash Point, approximately 20km from Agadir, in the South West of Morocco. We are right on the waters edge – literally 3 metres away. There’s no other surf camp in the area that has a location as perfect as ours!
Every morning you will wake up to 180 degree views of an azur blue ocean peppered with hundreds of tiny fishing boats. Breakfast is served on our roof terrace over looking the surf spots. We then all head out to the waves of the day in our fleet of off-road vehicles and the instructors take it from there.
We only employ locals as our instructors and guides. They all have their Moroccan or French Surfing Federation Diplomas and they have devised the perfect ‘learn to surf’ lessons program to ensure you get the most out of your week covering the basics of paddling, getting to your feet, catching you first green wave, and turning left and right. What’s more is because these guys have grown up in the area they’ll know the area better than anyone else and where to find those perfect un-crowded beaches, perfect for learning.
After a morning of lessons, lunch is served at the beach and the afternoon is spent perfecting the mornings teachings through practice, or some one-on-one sessions with the instructors. After a hard days surf everyone heads back to the camp for chill-out time on the terrace with the best views in Taghazout as your back-drop. The Gourmet evening dinner is served, cooked by our excellent Moroccan chefs, then chill out with a shisha, party the night away on our terrace, or head in Agadir for a real Moroccan Clubbing Experience.
