Introduction to Surfing - 5 days
Surfing is perhaps the purest of all the extreme sports; it has an iconic status and proud history. There is a certain romance in surfing which comes from man harnessing some of the worlds most beautiful and powerful natural forces. Millions of people around the world surf and it isn't as hard to learn as you may think, you need to learn the basics correctly from the start and then it's all practice, practice, practice. Our 5 day Discover Surfing experience is an introduction to surfing and will give you an idea of what the sport is all about. We have selected some of Spain's finest surfing schools associated with the Spanish Surfing Association. You really couldn’t ask for a more genuine surfing experience! Our 5 day course is designed for both complete beginners and experienced surfers who wish to perfect their skills. This is a well-rounded course covering all the basics, where some even end up doing various manoeuvres… riding a tube is something else entirely, though!

The course will start off at the centre where you’ll meet the instructors who will explain the structure of the course to you in detail. The groups will then be divided up by age and level so that you’ll be surfing and learning in groups of similar ability. Over the course of 5 days you’ll learn everything there is to know about surfing so that by the end you’ll be surfing independently. You will learn how to position yourself on the board, how to catch waves and how to go over the foam (duck dive and eskimo roll). What’s more, this course will give you a deeper understanding of the sea’s behaviour. For more advanced surfers, instructors will teach more complex manoeuvres such as carves and will correct any mistakes so as to refine your technique. The classes are fun and dynamic, always under the continuous supervision and assessment of the most experienced teachers (qualified experts in lifesaving and rescue). This course is split up into 5 modules lasting approximately 2 hours each per day. It strikes a good balance between theory and practice since you can polish your skills everyday and perfect your technique. |
