     Beginners Surfcourse and Accommodation

Surfing in Arrifana Beach (Portugal) with MissionToSurf

Our surf courses start every week on Monday and end on Friday. Therefore we recommend you to arrive on Sunday; however, if that is not possible, you can also join in during the week.

We offer courses in English and German for all surfing levels. The courses are held by experienced instructors and are based on the latest findings of sports science.

Surfing is not a sport that can be learned in one day- the more time you are spending with us, the bigger your progress will be.

We offer surfguiding and surfcourses (beginner & advanced level) from November until April. Those courses are organized by our Partner Surfcamp.

Beginners
The maximum number of students per coach is 8. Classes are 5 days a week, approximately 4 hours a day. The location and time of the lessons depend on factors such as swell size, tide, wind and weather to ensure maximum learning progress and fun. In addition to the practical part there is of course a bit of theory, as well, where you learn the basics about waves, rips and currents, wind, tides, equipment, safety and a lot more.
You can use our surfing equipment after the surf lessons.
In the first week you are introduced to surfing in appropriate methodical steps. In the extension week we help you to further improve your skills.
Our video coaching can contribute a lot to a fast and efficient learning process.

   Itinerary & Highlights

  Equipment
We only use the best equipment – boards of the brands NSP and Energia Tropical in all sizes from short- to longboards. NSP is the leading manufacturer of beginner boards. Some of the best Portuguese surfers are riding the Energia Tropical boards shaped by topshaper Alvaro. If you want to buy a new or second-hand board we are happy to arrange that.

To make sure that the great surf feeling is not blurred by the sometimes cool water of the Atlantic Ocean, every student gets their own wetsuit for the time they are staying at the camp. The range of wetsuits (Billabong) covers all relevant sizes.

Things to bring
The Algarve offers a lot of sun and pleasant temperatures year-round. In summer you usually will not need to bring more than shorts, t-shirts, bikinis, thongs, towels and a lot of sunscreen; however, a sweater can be handy in case a cooler breeze blows at night.
If you want to bring your own wetsuit, we recommend a 3/2 steamer for most of the year. In midsummer there are many days when a shorty is sufficient, in winter it is a good idea to bring a 4/3 steamer.

If you arrive in Portugal on a weekend in midsummer, we recommend you to bring some cash with you as the cash dispensers might be out of money.
